Sanctuary delivers 118 affordable homes at former Aberdeen fire station site
Sanctuary Scotland has completed the final phase of its £23 million development at North Anderson Drive, Aberdeen.
The project saw the creation of 72 flats and 46 houses on the site of a former fire station.
The new development includes 109 homes for social rent, and nine supported living homes with tailored care and support services.
It was carried out in partnership with the Scottish Government and Aberdeen City Council, including a Scottish Government grant of £13.8 million. The homes were built by Sanctuary’s appointed contractor Ogilvie Construction.
Gillian Lavety, Sanctuary’s development director – Scotland, said: “We’re proud to have completed such an important project that has increased the availability of affordable housing in the local area. We’d like to thank both the Scottish Government and Aberdeen City Council for making this possible.”
Paul McLennan, minister for housing, Scottish Government, said: “This development represents excellent use of public sector land. The Scottish Government has provided £13.8m funding to support the delivery of these 118 new high-quality homes for social rent, close to amenities and local transport links.
“We remain focused on delivering at least 110,000 affordable homes across Scotland by 2032. At least 70% of these will be for social rent and 10% will be in remote, rural and island communities.”
Councillor Miranda Radley, net zero, environment and transport committee vice convener, added: “Aberdeen City Council are delighted to have worked with Sanctuary Scotland and the Scottish Government to deliver affordable homes at the North Anderson Drive site.
“This development provides much needed social rented homes including some that are wheelchair accessible and nine specialist provision homes for those with learning disabilities.”
