SBHA donates £1,350 to Cash for Kids
Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA) and Scottish Borders Tenants Organisation (SBTO) along with partners are hoping to spread a bit of cheer this Christmas with a £1,350 donation to the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal.
Supporting the Mission Christmas appeal to ensure that no local children wake up without a gift this Christmas, SBHA alongside SBTO and local partners including Jewson Partnership Solutions (East Scotland), Midburn Construction Ltd, Keith McLean Carpets, and Bruce Stevenson donated the cash this week.
Representatives visited the Radio Borders Cash for Kids HQ in Tweedbank to hand over this much-welcomed donation, to help local children that need it most this Christmas.
Julia Mulloy, chief executive at SBHA, said: “At SBHA we are committed to helping families within the local communities across the Scottish Borders. It has been a very difficult and challenging year for many people, and at this time of year in particular, it can be difficult to make ends meet. Over the past few weeks our people have taken part in a number of Christmas activities to help spread a bit of joy, and we were keen to support a charity that helps local people. We have huge admiration for the work of Cash for Kids and are delighted to have been able to make this donation to help brighten up Christmas for young people in the Borders.”
Dominic Brookes, chair of SBTO, added: “SBTO is delighted to be able to share a little extra with the community who share with us all year round, and with whom we would not exist or be able to do so much without their valuable input.”
Jennifer Millar, partnership account manager, East Scotland for Jewson Partnership Solutions, commented: “Jewson Partnership Solutions, in partnership with SBHA, is delighted our contribution will help make Christmas more memorable for local families in the Scottish Borders community during such difficult times. People need support more than ever, and the work and commitment shown by all the staff and volunteers at Cash for Kids is inspirational and we are more than happy to support.”
Alice Edwards, charity manager, Radio Borders Cash for Kids, added: “We are delighted to accept this donation from SBHA, SBTO and partners. This year again has been extremely difficult for so many families and, with over 1,948 applications from families for Christmas, this incredible donation will go a long way in helping us to ensure that no child wakes up on Christmas Day without a gift. Without donations like these we would not be able to do the work we do, and we are incredibly grateful.”
The Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal raises money and collects gifts to be distributed to young people who may not otherwise receive any. Money raised and gifts collected remain within the local area.
