SBHA spreads cheer to Mission Christmas Appeal
Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA) is hoping to spread a bit of cheer this Christmas, with a donation to the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal.
This week several members of the SBHA team and representatives from its materials contractor Jewson Partnership Solutions paid a visit to the Radio Borders Cash for Kids HQ in Tweedbank, to hand over a donation of £1500 for the Mission Christmas Appeal. This included a donation of £1000 from Jewson Partnership Solutions. The cheque will enable Cash for Kids to buy Christmas gifts for local young people.
SBHA’s grounds maintenance contractor, idverde, has also made a donation of £200 worth of selection boxes.
Julia Mulloy, chief executive at SBHA, said: “SBHA has a strong commitment to helping families within the communities it serves. We know that this has been a very difficult year for many people, and at this time of year in particular, it can be difficult to make ends meet.
“Over the past few weeks our people have taken part in a number of Christmas activities to help spread a bit of joy, and we were keen to support a charity that helps local people. We have huge admiration for the work of Cash for Kids, and are delighted to have been able to make this donation to help brighten up Christmas for young people in the Borders.”
Jennifer Millar, partnership account manager – East Scotland for Jewson Partnership Solutions, said: ‘‘Jewson Partnership Solutions, in partnership with SBHA, is delighted our contribution will help make Christmas more memorable for local families in the Scottish Borders community during such difficult times. People need support more than ever, and the work and commitment shown by all the staff and volunteers at Cash for Kids is inspirational and we are more than happy to support.”
Frank King, operations director at idverde, said: “idverde welcomes the opportunity to continue working in partnership with SBHA and support the commitment to local people. In what has been a strange and challenging year for everyone, we are delighted to play a small part and assist in creating a joyful Christmas for the young people of the Borders.”
Dizzy White, charity manager at Cash for Kids, added: “We are delighted to accept this donation from SBHA, Jewson and idverde. This year has been extremely difficult for so many families and, with over 1,250 applications from families for Christmas, this incredible donation will go a long way in helping us to ensure that no child wakes up on Christmas Day without a gift. Without donations like these we would not be able to do the work we do, and we are incredibly grateful.”
