SBHA welcomes tenants to new homes in Hawick
Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA) has welcomed tenants to four new homes at Leishman Place in Burnfoot, Hawick.
The new properties, comprising two detached four-bedroom homes and two semi-detached three-bedroom homes, are thoughtfully designed with energy efficiency and family-friendly features in mind.
Burnfoot has long been a popular area for families, and the new homes, set in an elevated position, benefit from views over Hawick and beyond. Each home has a front and back garden, a driveway, solar panels, EV charger and heating is provided by Air Source Heat Pumps making them environmentally friendly and eliminating reliance on fossil fuels.
Emma Garry, SBHA’s director of development, said the homes are a good example of SBHA’s commitment to creating homes that are not only affordable to live in, but also contribute to combating climate change.
Ms Garry added: “We would like to thank everyone who attended the consultation event at the Burnfoot Community Hub back in Autumn 2022, as well as local residents for their understanding during the construction phase.
“We really appreciated the support for the development from the community, and the feedback from the consultation event helped shape the final design, particularly the need for larger family homes. We are delighted with the end result and wish the new tenants at Leishman Place all the best as they settle into their new homes.”
SBHA and the JR Group are also building homes at a second site in Burnfoot. The 12 homes at Fairhurst Drive range in sizes with some of the homes specifically designed for older people and wheelchair users. Completion is anticipated early in 2025.
