Scottish housing association climbs to 4th in UK’s best workplaces
Home in Scotland has been ranked as one of the best places to work in Scotland for a sixth consecutive year.
The housing association, part of Home Group, which has around 3,500 staff, placed 4th in the UK’s Best Workplaces, as part of the 2024 Great Place to Work Survey.
This is an improved from its position of 7th last year and notably the organisation has not been outside the top ten since 2018.
Audrey Simpson, director of Home in Scotland, said: “We are immensely proud to have not only secured another top ten place through our Great Place to Work scores but to have improved on last year as well. It is an achievement we should all be proud of as an organisation and demonstrates that we are always striving to improve.
“What makes this accolade all the more special is the fact it comes directly from our colleagues. There’s no judging panel or polished submission to decide our Great Place to Work scores; it is based on honest feedback from our staff.
“I’m so proud to work with amazing people across our business, who always show such passion and commitment to their work and to supporting each other and our customers.
“We will celebrate our colleagues’ hard work through this accolade, but we also know that we must not become complacent. There is always room for improvement, as we showed this year, and so we will continue to listen and learn from our colleagues, new and existing, to see how we can further develop Home Group as a great place to work and grow.”
The Great Place to Work awards recognise the top super large, large, medium, and small workplaces in the UK, with Home Group named in the Super Large category for businesses with over 1,000 employees.
Home Group were the highest ranked and one of only three housing associations named in the top 40 organisations, as well as being the highest placed charitable organisation in this year’s awards.
The ranking also means Home in Scotland retain their ‘Laureate’ status, a special accolade awarded to organisations who have been on the list for more than five years.
The Best Workplaces awards were created by Great Place to Work, an international organisation represented in over 50 countries worldwide. Operating in the UK since 2000, their aim is to help businesses create high performing workplaces where employees feel valued and trusted.
Representing the most prestigious recognition of employer success, the awards are backed by over 30 years of global research. They provide a unique insight into the people practices that create an organisation’s workplace culture.
