Scottish Housing Regulator appoints new team of volunteer tenant advisors

The Scottish Housing Regulator has appointed a new team of 12 independent, volunteer tenant advisors to help keep tenants’ views at the heart of its work.
The new tenant advisors come from across Scotland. The appointments were made following an open recruitment exercise supported by the independent tenant representative body, Tenant Information Service Scotland (TIS).
The tenant advisors will provide the Regulator with feedback from a tenant perspective to add to the other regulatory evidence it gathers, tenant advisors have been involved for example in testing landlords services by acting as mystery shoppers, reviewing the Regulator’s draft publications and asking other service users for their views when the Regulator is assessing the quality of services provided by social landlords.
Helen Shaw, director of regulation, said: “Working with tenant advisors is one of the important ways we hear from tenants and keep their views at the heart of what we do. So, I’m delighted to welcome our new team of 12 independent, volunteer tenant advisors.
“Our new tenant advisors come from right across Scotland and from a wide range of backgrounds and walks of life. They will bring a diverse range of experiences and perspectives.
“I’d like to thank everyone who applied for the role. I’d also like to thank all of our previous tenant advisors who have worked with us over the years. We know our new team of tenant advisors will build upon the important work they did to keep tenants at the heart of our regulation of social landlords in Scotland.”
