Second phase of work begins at Crookfur retirement estate
retailTRUST, a trade charity for people working in retail and the support services industries, is working with Clark Contracts to deliver a second phase of its major redevelopment of their well-loved retirement estate in Crookfur, Newton Mearns.
This second phase of work involves the demolition of the existing Buchanan building and construction of 13 one bedroom apartments with landscaping, including footpaths and parking.
Clark Contracts will complete the second phase of the project whilst works for the development of phase one continues alongside the new project.
The aim of the construction work is to transform the Crookfur Estate by introducing ‘connected living’ and creating 100 new digitally enabled residential units to help more people live independently in their own homes.
Kathy MacIntyre, director of supported living services for Retail Trust, said: “We are delighted to award the contract to Clark Contracts for the second phase of the development of our Crookfur Estate.”
Michael Scanlan, director at Clark Contracts, added: “It is fantastic to be awarded this second phase of work within the Crookfur Estate and we look forward to continuing to work with Retail Trust to deliver this project.”
Clark Contracts is currently on site delivering phase one which is a £3.5 million project to create 33 new retirement apartments.
