Share launches free tenant portal for Scotland’s private rented sector

Share is proud to announce the launch of a free educational resource designed exclusively for tenants in Scotland’s private rented and mid-market rented sectors.
This initiative, made possible through funding from SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust, aims to support both new and existing tenants by ensuring they fully understand their rights and responsibilities.
With Scotland’s housing landscape becoming increasingly complex, this new digital learning portal provides tenants with on-demand access to essential information, helping them make informed decisions at every stage of their rental journey. The fully online courses, available 24/7, are hosted on Share’s learning management system and are structured into three key sections:
- Planning Your Move – Understanding tenancy agreements, affordability, and key questions to ask before renting.
- Moving In & Living In – Rights and responsibilities, property maintenance, and tenant protections.
- Moving Out – Notice periods, deposits, and guidance for a smooth transition.
Each course module concludes with a brief assessment to reinforce learning, and those inspired to explore a career in housing will have access to guidance from Share’s learning and development team.
Share Learning Limited (known as Share) is a Company Limited by Guarantee, SC145529, and a Scottish Charity, SC021721, regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)
Speaking about the launch, Daryl McIntosh, Chief Executive of Share, said: “I am delighted that Share has been able to offer this valuable resource free for tenants. There are fantastic career opportunities in the housing sector, and I would love for this learning resource to be the first step toward an exciting career in housing.”
This initiative represents a significant step towards improving tenant knowledge, promoting fair renting practices, and encouraging professional development within the housing sector.
