Share marks Mental Health Awareness week with webinar and Wellbeing Network

Mental Health Awareness week will take place 12-18th May and Share are supporting the awareness-raising campaign by hosting a webinar and the biannual meeting of their wellbeing network.

Learning and development officer, Julie-Ann Cloherty, said: “The theme of this year’s mental health awareness week is community, which is so apt for the work that those in the housing sector do in building and sustaining communities.

“Mental health issues are becoming more prevalent everywhere, and cuts elsewhere mean that housing professionals are dealing with more complex mental health needs in their communities, and this can have a profound impact on them, so our webinar will look at both the work they do in the community and the community of support that housing professionals build around themselves to maintain their mental health and wellbeing.”

This 1-hour lunchtime session takes place on 13th May via Zoom and is free to access for Share members, with a small fee of £25 for non-members to join. Places are limited and bookings can be made by clicking HERE.

Later in Mental Health Awareness Week, Share’s wellbeing network will meet to discuss how we look after Mental Health First Aiders in the workplace.

Julie-Ann explained: “Our mental health first aiders do fantastic work within our organisations, usually driven by their own enthusiasm for helping others. However, as more people experience poor mental health, we have to be aware of the impact on Mental Health First Aiders and how we ensure that we are looking after and supporting them while they support others.”

Network meetings are also free to members and available to non-members for a small fee. Our wellbeing networks meet twice a year, this meeting takes place via Zoom on 14th May at 2pm. To book your spot, click HERE.
