The screening is part of the 12-month series of activities and events Shelter Scotland is running to mark its 50th anniversary.

It will be followed by discussions about the issues raised by the film and how they relate to the housing and homelessness charity’s work – led by Shelter Scotland director, Graeme Brown.

Tickets for the event are on sale from the Filmhouse – priced from £6.50 for Filmhouse friends with concessions - and two pairs are available free via an online ballot at shelterscotland.org/idanielblake.

Graeme Brown said: “We are delighted to be hosting a one-off screening of I, Daniel Blake. It is very apt that in our 50th year we screen this fantastic and powerful movie about people struggling to cope with the benefit system and lack of housing.

“We’re not celebrating this 50th anniversary. We shouldn’t be necessary. Shelter Scotland is still fighting so that no-one needs to face bad housing and homelessness on their own and we will keep fighting until there’s a home for everyone.”
