Something for everyone at Link’s Community Fun Day
The first community fun day at Lawknowe Court hosted by tenants and staff from Link Housing Association’s Lanarkshire housing team, and tenant engagement was hugely successful.
Over 150 people attended the fun day on Saturday, June 24, which was held at Lawknowe Court, a new build development in East Kilbride.
Housing services coordinator, Ann Gribben said: “We are absolutely delighted the fun day was a success, and the feedback from our tenants has been fantastic.
“This was our first event in this development, and the range of activities made it a fun, exciting day for people of all ages.
“It was especially good to see so many younger people having fun outside and engaging with staff because following this event, we plan to involve the local children to help us design a new outdoor area.”
The event had something for everyone, with a bouncy castle, face painting, information stalls, arts and crafts and refreshments. Housing and tenant engagement staff also gathered tenants’ views on proposed cycle storage and ideas to improve the development.
Tenants were challenged by Link’s Community Wellbeing Team to see if they could tell the difference between branded food items and their cheaper budget equivalents in a ‘taste test.’ They also provided recipes for affordable, nutritious meals to help save money during the cost-of-living crisis.
The day’s highlight was the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service showing the children the fire engine. After demonstrating the lights and siren, they helpfully cooled everyone down with a gentle blast of water!
