South Lanarkshire flat block refurbishment programme complete
The £2.1 million upgrade was carried out by Lovell at the multi-storey block of flats at Kyle Court in Cambuslang.
The work, including repairs to outer walls and installation of an insulated render system, is part of South Lanarkshire Council’s HomeHappening programme of investment for council homes across the area, and has helped to lower fuel costs by increasing the building’s energy efficiency rating.
Other features included replacing external windows and doors, carrying out repairs and replacement of external lighting and cabling and replacing lightning protection systems.
During the project, Lovell held special safety talks and competitions for children at the Upstairs Kids Klub nursery, located next to Kyle Court on Cambuslang’s Main Street.
The company has now donated £700 towards funding a new storage facility in the nursery’s outdoor play area. The cheque was donated by Lovell and its subcontractors, which include scaffolding specialist SGB; roofing company McConnells; insulation installer Dormar; window specialist CMS; concrete repairs company CRL; and digital TV aerial and satellite system installer SCI.
Sarah Freel, regional partnerships director of Lovell, said: “Having had fantastic co-operation and understanding from the nursery and from parents, we all wanted to say thank you and to leave behind something of lasting benefit through our Lovell Legacy programme.
“Lovell believes in extending the positive effects of its work in communities as widely as possible and we’re always keen to help children and young people learn more about construction and increase their safety awareness.”
Upstairs Kids Klub manager Annemarie Jack added: “We’re very grateful for the support from Ness and the Lovell team, including this generous donation which will go towards providing a new storage facility for our outdoor play area.”
