Southside Housing Association development recommended for approval
A block of 55 flats for social rent at the site of a former Glasgow car dealership looks set to be given the green light.
Working with Southside Housing Association, AS Homes (Scotland) Ltd wants to build new homes at Arnold Clark’s Vauxhall showroom and service facility on Pollokshaws Road.
Under the plans by Keppie Design, there would be a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom units. There would be no car parking spaces provided.
Councillors on Glasgow’s planning applications committee are due to consider the proposal on Tuesday. There have been nearly 50 objections but city officials are urging that permission be granted.
The report by planners stated: “Taking into account the infill nature of the proposed development and assessing the proposed density against the general principles, it is considered that the proposed density is appropriate and does not constitute overdevelopment of the site.”
