Stirling University congratulates latest Housing Studies graduates
The University of Stirling has congratulated 29 students on their entry to the housing profession ahead of their graduation ceremony tonight.
The university said it was “more important than ever to recognise and celebrate the success of new entrants to the housing profession” at a time when “housing has hit the world headlines for all the wrong reasons”.
The new graduates include 25 students graduating with the university’s Diploma in Housing Studies, which fully meets the requirements for Professional Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing. 11 Diploma Graduates achieved Distinction level in their studies and four students are graduating with an MSc in Housing Studies.
One of this year’s graduates said: “I can say with certainty I would not have the job l have at the moment (which I love) without all the skills I have developed and the knowledge gained doing the Diploma in Housing Studies at Stirling University. I will be doing presentations and reports for my organisation, as well as drawing on government policy on older persons and independent living. Longer term I am considering continuing to Masters, and possibly a PhD. It has been a wonderful experience - a challenging two years but I have loved it.”
Most of Stirling’s June 2017 graduates have been supported by housing sector employers to undertake their professional qualification.
The Housing Studies team at Stirling said they “wish to thank all of our partners across the sector for their continuing support in sponsoring students and hosting workplace internships for those students who are new to work in housing”.
A further 12 Stirling University students are currently on workplace internships with housing organisations across Scotland and will graduate in November 2017.
Stirling University are currently taking applications for our 2017 entry programme commencing with a two-day on-campus induction on 10-11 September.
