Story Homes secures resolution to bring 92 homes to Dumfries
Story Homes has secured a minded to approve decision to deliver a further 92 new homes on land at Marchfield as part of its existing Summerpark development in Dumfries.
Dumfries & Galloway Council resolved to grant planning consent for the scheme at its Planning Committee meeting on 21 March 2024 subject to conditions and a s75 legal agreement, giving the housebuilder the green light to further extend its Summerpark development which launched over 15 years ago.
Story Homes’ proposals demonstrate a sustainable and integrated new development phase that will make an important contribution to the local housing supply, delivering new public open space with vehicle and pedestrian connections from the current Summerpark development and a children’s play area.
The new phase will include a range of two to five-bedroom family homes featuring internal layouts that offer modern, open plan living spaces and exterior details that create unique street scenes.
Senior land & planning manager, Adam McNally, said: “We’ve been building in Dumfries for over 15 years, and we are delighted that Dumfries & Galloway Council is minded to grant permission so that we can continue to deliver much needed, high-quality homes for local people.
“There is a really strong sense of community at Summerpark and we continue to receive very positive feedback from our customers about how happy they are with their new homes. It will therefore be a pleasure to watch the development continue to grow and flourish.”
Story Homes said it is committed to investing in Dumfries & Galloway as a region, and this new development phase will continue to create benefits for the local economy during the construction phase; via direct and indirect employment opportunities through the sub-contractor and supply chains, as well as an increased demand for local businesses and services when the new homes are occupied.
Summerpark, which opened in January 2008, was Story Homes’ first ever development in Scotland, and it is still the biggest development in Dumfries & Galloway to date. The development is now home to over 500 residents and has received numerous awards in recognition of its quality.
