Strong support for Community Powers Act event
Organisers of this month’s Community Powers Act seminar sponsored by Scottish Housing News report strong support for the conference from Scotland’s social housing sector and stress there is still time to book for the event on January 29.
Advocate Mark Lazarowicz said: “The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act introduces a powerful new right for community bodies to take over the ownership, or lease, many public assets.
“Depending on the extent to which a housing association or co-op is controlled by the local community, it might qualify as ‘community controlled’ body which can then ask for asset transfer from local authorities, health boards, the police, the Scottish Government, and many other public bodies.”
