Summary of responses to planning consultation published
A summary of responses to a consultation on resourcing Scotland’s planning system has been published by the Scottish Government.
The public consultation ‘Investing in Planning – a consultation on resourcing Scotland’s planning system’ sought views on a range of proposals to support improvement in the delivery of planning services, including smarter ways of working, getting more people to consider a career in planning and alternative approaches to financing.
The consultation, which ran from 28 February 2024 to 31 May 2024, received 140 responses from a range of stakeholders who were asked which proposal they would most like to see implemented and the two most popular proposals related to the introduction of a Planning Hub and introduction of an annual inflationary increase to planning fees.
The government is currently considering the responses to the consultation and will provide an update on the next steps when the Scottish Parliament returns after recess.
