Taylor Wimpey to deliver over 100 new homes in Macmerry
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has secured detailed planning consent from East Lothian Council for 102 new homes through the development of land to the west of Greendykes Road in Macmerry.
The site, which will be marketed as Fairfields, consists of agricultural land that is identified for housing in the adopted Local Development Plan.
Fairfields represents a significant investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, and it will deliver a range of two, three, and four bedroom homes in a variety of styles and sizes to appeal to a wide range of customers.
The development will also include a provision of 25 per cent affordable homes, as well as substantial public open space, a play area and landscaping.
The development incorporates a design that aims to create a sense of place and maximises the latest Scottish Government Planning Policy for ‘Designing Places’ where it will aim to integrate with the local Macmerry area and its special character.
The development will also make significant contributions towards providing additional education capacity in the village, as well as local transport improvements, which have been secured by a Section 75 legal agreement with East Lothian Council.
Pauline Mills, land & planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “We are delighted to confirm that we have secured a detailed planning permission for the development of land off Greendykes Road in Macmerry.
“As well as an impressive range of new homes, Fairfields will provide a range of economic benefits for the local Macmerry area, which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.
“Fairfields follows our strong track record of delivering excellent quality developments of family homes across the local area including Almond Park in Musselburgh, Letham Mains in Haddington, and Dunbar where a further 61 new homes are well underway just off Brodie Road.”
