Tenants move into Osprey Housing’s latest flats in Elgin
Four Osprey Housing tenants have moved into their new homes on Elgin’s Hamilton Drive, marking the completion of the social landlord’s latest successful collaboration with Moray housebuilder Morlich Homes.
The four cottage-style one-bedroom flats are within the Hamilton Gate development and have been built to Osprey’s specifications. The two ground-floor properties include wheelchair-friendly one-level access, wider doors, and wet-floor shower rooms.
Osprey — which currently owns and manages more than 1,800 properties across Moray, Aberdeenshire, and Aberdeen City — has worked with Morlich Homes as a successful partnership on a number of sites over several years. Two further developments in Moray are scheduled for completion over the next couple of years, at Buckie and Cullen.
The new single-occupancy tenants were all welcomed to Hamilton Drive on the same day in December by Osprey housing officer Gavin Farquhar.
He said: “These flats are beautifully finished, spacious, and within easy walking distance of all Elgin’s central amenities.
“They have been built to the very high standard we’ve come to expect from Morlich Homes, and they’re located in one of Elgin’s most desirable postcodes with great views across the city to the hills beyond.”
Mr Farquhar said all four tenants had settled in quickly. He added: “They’re really happy and hopefully having a comfortable home that’s affordable to run will have a positive knock-on effect across all other aspects of their lives.”
All the flats feature economical Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pumps and quality insulation, and there is ample car parking in front of the properties along with low-maintenance gardens.
The total development cost for Osprey was £513,412, with a Scottish Government contribution of £165,740 delivered through the Housing Association Grant (HAG).
