The Whiteinch Centre celebrates Eid with the community

The Whiteinch Centre, in partnership with Bloody Amazing, held their first annual Eid celebration on Monday 7th April.

The event was a huge success and brought together 95 people from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and cultures, creating a powerful moment of unity, joy, and shared experience in the heart of the community. Of those 95 that attended, 67% of were Whiteinch & Scotstoun Housing Association (WSHA) tenants.

The celebration was more than just a festive gathering—it was an invitation for people of all backgrounds to come together, break bread, and connect through conversation and culture. Guests shared food, laughter, and stories, embodying the spirit of Eid and community solidarity.

Reflecting on the inclusive community atmosphere of the day, one attendee noted: “It’s been a fantastic event that offers a great opportunity to gather people of all cultures together”.

The Whiteinch Centre provided financial support for the whole event to ensure that it was accessible to all. “good that all things are free,” one participant shared, highlighting the thoughtful approach taken to remove barriers and make everyone feel welcome.

The food, provided by local business House of Halal, was another standout element. “The food being from the House of Halal is respectful of our culture,” noted a guest, appreciating the attention to cultural sensitivity and dietary needs.

These close community links reinforced the event’s commitment to supporting the local economy. By partnering with small, community-based businesses, like the House of Halal, the event helped to strengthen local ties and contribute to the circular economy, ensuring that the benefits of the day extended beyond the celebration itself.

Debs Allan, communities manager at WSHA, said: “This first annual Eid celebration marks the beginning of what The Whiteinch Centre hopes will become a lasting tradition—one that continues to build bridges, celebrate diversity, and strengthen the local community.”
