TIS welcomes new Board directors
Four new Board directors have been welcomed to the Tenants Information Service (TIS), brining the current total at the organisation to ten.
The newest directors to join the TIS Board are Bruce Cuthbertson, East Ayrshire Tenant and Resident Federation; John Duffy, Dykehead Tenant and Resident Association; Scott Buchanan, United Towers Tenant and Resident Association; and Maureen Buick, Clyde Valley Customer Panel.
The TIS Board is responsible for monitoring performance and agreeing the strategic performance of the organisation.
It said: “We are certain that these new members will bring a range of new skills, perspectives, and talent to the organisation, whilst ensuring TIS continue to offer a bespoke development support service and allow tenants and landlords to further develop their tenant participation practice in the future.”
TIS also announced that Alice Bovill, St Mary’s Association of Residents & Tenants, has been elected by the Board as chair. Alice is the longest-serving member of the Board, holding the position of treasurer since 1996.
As a familiar face in the tenants’ movement across Scotland and having spent many years representing local people, Alice is best known within the city of Dundee as the founder and chairwoman of St Mary’s Association of Residents and Tenants and the St Mary’s Community Facility. She is also a member of the Dundee Leisure and Culture Board and the Dundee Partnership Management Group.
The TIS Board also elected Alan Dunton, Haddington East Tenants and Residents Association, as vice-chair.
TIS chief executive, Ilene Campbell, is positive about these new changes and commented: “TIS have a fantastic Board and staff team. We are working to continually develop innovative participation and scrutiny practice across Scotland and maintain our organisation as a leader in our field.”
