Trafalgar Housing Association director Paul McShane

Trafalgar Housing Association is deeply saddened to announce the death of its director Paul McShane on Wednesday 2nd April 2025 following a short illness.
Paying tribute to Paul, Trafalgar’s chairperson Willie Croft said: “The staff and committee of Trafalgar and all our tenants are devastated at the loss of Paul McShane. Paul’s commitment to Trafalgar was unwavering, he devoted over 33 years of his working life to the Association, and was passionate about delivering a first class service to our tenants and service users. He will be greatly missed by all of us and everyone in housing who knew him.”
Paul started with Trafalgar in November 1991 shortly after the Association acquired its first stock transfer in Dumbarton Road, starting in housing management. He then went on to become the director in 1999 and was committed to working with various board members, staff teams and our partners in the Clydebank and West Dunbartonshire area in totally transforming the Dalmuir and Radnor Park areas to improve the lives of tenants and the community as a whole. Throughout his many years of service he was a true supporter of Trafalgar and the full community based housing association movement.
Paul also served as a member of the board of Share for many years, taking on the role as chair for part of the time, a role which he really enjoyed.
Paul is survived by his wife Elaine and his daughter Emma. Funeral details will be announced in due course.
David Bookbinder, director of Glasgow and West of Scotland Forum of Housing Associations (GWSF), said: “Colleen and I at the Forum are so very sorry to hear of Paul’s untimely passing.
“Paul was always extremely supportive of everything the Forum did, as he was with Share too. He played a significant role in helping the Forum develop when it became an independent organisation, and not least when membership was opened to community based associations outwith Glasgow around 15 years ago.
“He was unswerving in his belief that small CBHAs could thrive if they were well run and provided great services to tenants.
“He and I had many chats over the years about issues in our sector, occasionally drifting on to political or soccer-related matters! Our deepest sympathies go to Elaine, Emma and all Paul’s family and friends, and to everyone at Trafalgar.”
