Tribute: Linda McFayden
Thenue Housing has paid tribute to former staff member Linda McFadyen, who died Tuesday 16 June after a struggle with illness, ahead of her funeral on Wednesday.
Linda died a few months short of her 50th birthday.
This week, the housing association described her as “someone whose working life was dedicated to helping others in the true spirit of the housing association movement”.
Linda joined Thenue Housing in 1987 where her design skills and aptitude for photography were recognised and put to good use. Latterly she worked as a Corporate Services Officer where she had particular responsibility for customer newsletters and the organisation’s annual review.
Linda will however be mostly remembered for the fun events she organised for Thenue staff, their families and local community members - and her particularly memorable “Secret Santa” events.
Linda left Thenue in January of this year due to ill health.
Charles Turner, chief executive at Thenue, said: “Linda’s death, far too young, is a tragedy for her family and we send our heartfelt condolences to them and particularly her teenage son Matthew of whom she was very proud.
“Many people’s lives were touched by Linda and her dedication and hard work as an outstanding housing professional is something we will remember with great fondness. We will miss Linda but remain forever grateful for the time she spent with us and her great contribution to our work.”
Linda is survived by Matthew, mum Jessie, sister Irene and fiancé Mike.
Linda’s funeral will take place at Woodside Memorial Crematorium, Paisley PA1 2NE on Wednesday 24th June at 10am, thereafter to the Milton Watermill Hotel, Paisley, PA1 1SR.
