Two Eildon projects top awards shortlist
Two new build projects by Eildon Housing Association (pictured) are in the running for a Best Development award in the prestigious Scottish Homes Awards.
The Dunwhinny Gardens development in Peebles and the Rodger Fish Gardens development in Kelso are both in the shortlist for the Best Development - medium (11-25 units) category, sponsored by Zoopla Property Group.
The winning developments will be revealed at the Homes for Scotland annual lunch on Friday 15 May.
The Peebles development includes 15 large family homes and one wheelchair-accessible bungalow to the south of the town centre, located near the high school. It was completed in January by Hart Builders Edinburgh, with design by ASSIST Design Ltd.
The Kelso development includes 14 large family homes, two supported flats, and two mainstream flats on the edge of the town centre.
The scheme contains mid-market rent properties, completed in August 2014 by Border Construction, with design by ASSIST Design Ltd. Eildon has since worked with local residents to set up an ‘allotment society’ to create 8 allotments and a meadow garden adjacent to the site.
Both projects were funded by a combination of Eildon Housing Association borrowing and grants from the Scottish Government.
