Under One Roof launches full Doors Open Days programme for Edinburgh and East Lothian
Under One Roof has announced the full programme of events for this year’s Doors Open Days in Edinburgh and East Lothian, taking place on 24 and 25 September.
Festival attendees will be able to access the programme of over 70 buildings, events, and tours via the Under One Roof website, Under One Roof.
Joining this year’s programmes are existing Doors Open Days favourites, such as Parliament House, the National Library of Scotland, and the Royal Observatory. Festival newcomers the Salisbury Centre, Tribe Porty, and St Giles Cathedral also allow visitors to explore new and exciting venues.
Under One Roof will also welcome visitors to the Festival Hub, located at the Summerhall events venue in the city centre. Our hub will host events and talks where the public can learn more about Scottish heritage and sustainability, learn more about the complete Doors Open Days programme, and receive support with the management and maintenance of their tenement building from the Under One Roof team.
The theme of this year’s festival is “Standing Strong”, which will highlight the value of regular building maintenance and community approaches to looking after buildings and places. It will also examine the challenges of retrofitting buildings to address the climate emergency and achieve net-zero carbon emission targets.
Mike Heffron, chief executive of Under One Roof Scotland, said: “It’s fantastic to launch this year’s full festival programme. Under One Roof hopes that visitors are excited to explore their local communities, find new festival favourites, and have the chance to learn more about creating sustainable places and spaces in Scotland.”
