Viewpoint tenant board member retires after ten and a half years
Jean Simpson, a Viewpoint tenant at Inverleith Gardens, has retired after ten and a half years’ service as a board member.
Jean, who previously worked as a co-ordinator with Viewpoint, moved to Inverleith Gardens in 2006 and was the first tenant to become a board member.
She acknowledges that her experience as a tenant allowed her to look at things from a different perspective, and listening to other tenants helped her to contribute in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation. Jean also brought experience of working with various charities.
In an interview for the Viewpoint Newsletter, Jean said: “I will miss being on the board but I have lots of stuff I want to do. I love all kinds of crafting, playing bridge, church activities, books and two book clubs…. these are all things I will now have more time to do.”
When asked about tenants’ involvement on the board, Jean added: “I would certainly encourage tenants to get involved, it is really rewarding and you can also join other committees or projects. There is always something interesting going on. It is good to be involved and to shape, support and challenge the organisation in a positive way.”

On both a professional and personal level I would like to thank Jean for everything she has done for Viewpoint and for her ongoing commitment and support through the recent challenging times. I hope that Jean will continue to participate in the organisation through tenant consultation groups and share her experience, knowledge and prowess with others.”
