Fifty years of clothing trends from the 60s until present day will light up the catwalk at a spectacular fashion show organised by Shelter Scotland’s Edinburgh shops to mark the housing and homelessness charity’s 50th anniversary.

All the items have been donated to the Shelter Scotland shops from supporters across the city.

More recent designer and quality outfits will complement the vintage and retro garments. All the outfits worn on the catwalk will be modelled by Shelter Scotland volunteers and staff.

The event is being held at the Jam House, Queen Street, Edinburgh, on October 21 and will include a pre-show sale which is free to enter. Doors open 4-6pm – the ticket-only fashion show is from 7pm.

STV newsreader Halla Mohieddeen will compère the event. Halla supports the charity by often wearing outfits from Shelter Scotland’s charity shops when presenting the news.

The charity has also had support from local professional model Rosalind Main providing tips on how to make the show as professional as possible.

The fundraiser is being held as part of a year-long series of events marking Shelter Scotland’s 50th anniversary.

Tony Foster, community shop manager at Shelter Scotland Morningside, said: “We’re extremely pleased to welcome Halla Mohieddeen to compère our fashion show and grateful to all the other people providing help. Thanks to our donors, we have high-quality and often unique items on sale in our charity shops across Edinburgh and this event will give us a chance to showcase our amazing stock in a fun way.

“Our shops help to raise the money we need to continue providing the help and support that is sadly still required by people struggling to find or keep a home in Scotland today. The fashion show will help us to bring in more vital funds to ensure that work continues.”

Tickets for the evening event are £10 plus a booking fee when bought online. They can be booked at Eventbrite or in Shelter Scotland charity shops in Morningside, Nicolson Street, Forrest Road, Stockbridge, Dalry Rd, Tollcross or Corstorphine.

Special VIP tickets costing £15 will give guests seats in the balcony area, a strip of raffle tickets and access to a hand-picked selection of new and vintage clothes. Doors open on the free to enter sale at 4pm. Doors open to the ticketed Fashion Show at 7pm.
