Warm Welcome initiative returns to Perth and Kinross

Warm Welcome initiative returns to Perth and Kinross

As the current winter draws on, there will again be plenty of places in and around Perth and Kinross where a warm welcome is guaranteed.

After an initial run over the 2022-2023 winter period, the Warm Welcome initiative is back for 2023-2024.

Community groups and venues across the local area, supported by Perth and Kinross Council funding, will provide warm, welcoming and safe locations for people to gather during the cold of the winter months.

Many of these venues will also offer hot food and drinks, as well as a range of activities for all ages from children to older people.

Perth and Kinross Council leader, Councillor Grant Laing said: “The cost-of-living crisis continues to impact on households around Perth and Kinross as we head into the winter months. The impact of the many community-led initiatives organised last winter was very positive, offering them a warm, safe and welcoming space at no cost.

“I am happy that we can again support local groups and organisations to deliver projects aimed at those most likely to be in need in their community this winter.

I would encourage our residents to find out what is on offer and make use of the warm welcomes in their area, or share the information with any family, friends or neighbours who they feel would benefit.”
