Warmworks recognised for leadership and commitment to developing staff
At a time of unparalleled growth that has seen employee numbers almost double in the last year alone to support a significant expansion of work to new areas of the UK, Edinburgh-based energy efficiency leaders Warmworks have been recognised by Investors in People for their values-driven leadership and business-wide commitment to staff.
Warmworks’ chief executive, Ross Armstrong, has been shortlisted as Leader of the Year in the UK-wide Investors in People Awards 2022. The company itself has also been reaccredited by Investors in People (IIP) at Platinum level, following a rigorous independent assessment process.
For more than 30 years, Investors in People has been recognised internationally as a leading people accreditation in countries across the world.
Warmworks was previously awarded IIP at Platinum level in 2019, becoming only the second organisation in Scotland to achieve this at the first time of asking. This reaccreditation marks a further endorsement of Warmworks’ commitment to investing in an engaged, values-driven and highly skilled workforce to support its customers across the UK to improve the energy efficiency of their homes, and in turn, better manage their fuel bills.
This recognition also comes following a year in which Warmworks has significantly expanded its portfolio of energy efficiency contracts, which has seen the company opening new offices in Newcastle and London to support the delivery of new contracts in these locations.
Ross Armstrong said: “I’m thrilled that our business has been recertified at Platinum level by Investors in People, which is a fitting testament to the terrific work that our team does in supporting people and families across the country every single day.
“Our people are our greatest asset and I’m proud to be a part of this unique organisation, changing lives and helping communities build a more sustainable future.”
Warmworks’ chair, David Green, said: “The Warmworks business has been founded on a very clear set of values, all of which are centred on looking after people and providing the best possible service. Our organisation is focused on tackling fuel poverty and ensuring that there is a just transition to a net zero carbon society, where no homes are left behind.
“For Ross to be nominated as Leader of the Year in driving this vital mission forward is a very welcome reflection of the valuable work that the whole team has made possible.”
Bonnie Clarke, chief executive of Remarkable, added: “Warmworks continue to lead by example. They have been positively relentless in ensuring their people are cared for and developed, and this commitment comes right from the very top of the organisation.
“Not only have they achieved the very highest of IIP accolades being a Platinum accredited organisation for the second time, but their CEO Ross Armstrong shines brightly as an incredible role model who has been shortlisted in the Leader of the Year category at the Investors in People Awards. He is creating a culture where people can speak up, share their experiences and perspectives and help create an even better experience for the people they serve which is even more important and noteworthy during this challenging time.
“Warmworks are a positive beacon of how to engage, develop and care for people, huge and well-deserved congratulations.”
