Waverley Housing holds Annual General Meeting
Waverley Housing’s Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday in St John’s Church Hall, Hawthorn Road, Galashiels.
Tenants and guests had an opportunity to give their opinions at the ‘Have Your Say’ area and also browse information stands on display and receive information from Waverley’s own Housing & Repairs Teams and various external partner organisations including:
Before starting the formal part of the AGM, children had the opportunity to take part in a colouring competition and young and old alike were also entertained by some fun games of bingo, presented by teenage volunteers from local ‘Community Youth Voice’ organisation.
Waverley’s chair of the board, Rita Stenhouse, welcomed everyone and gave a short overview of what Waverley has accomplished over the past year and what is planned for the forthcoming year, with housing services manager Lenore Suddon giving a presentation on our new Allocations process.
Tenant participation officer Pamela Martyn presented a prize for the Best Garden Competition to Mrs Rose from Jedburgh and trophies to joint winners of Waverley’s Community Star Award, Mr Beattie and Mr Barnes from Hawick, who together had transformed a communal area into colourful flower beds, much appreciated by local residents.
Guests enjoyed the stovies and hot dogs on offer, as well as some delicious soup made on-site by volunteers, whom themselves had benefitted from the support of the local ‘Healthy Living Network’ team.
Langlee Community Choir provided further entertainment with a performance of some of their songs and Gregor Booth, Waverley’s operations director, closed the event and thanked everyone for attending.
