Webinar to share learnings from school-based homelessness prevention pilot

The latest insights from an independent evaluation of a pilot programme to prevent youth homelessness are to be shared at a webinar later this month.

Rock Trust’s Upstream Scotland is an innovative school-based prevention model designed to identify and support young people at risk of homelessness before they reach crisis point.

Launched over a year ago as part of a three-year pilot, Upstream Scotland is already making a real difference to the young people and schools it is supporting. The project is being independently evaluated by Heriot-Watt and Cardiff University, and the results already highlight that upstream models can prevent youth and family homelessness.

Read more about the evaluation here.

As well as the evaluation insights, the webinar will cover practical and strategic perspectives from schools implementing Upstream and the strategic role of early intervention in ending youth homelessness.

Speakers include:

  • Prof. Suzanne Fitzpatrick, I-SPHERE, Heriot-Watt University
  • Dave Macluskey, strategic lead: education & learning (Perth and Kinross Council)
  • Emma Carmichael, Upstream project manager, Rock Trust
  • Ali MacDermid, head of services, Rock Trust
  • Kate Polson, CEO, Rock Trust

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, 23rd April 2025, from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM on Microsoft Teams.
