West Dunbartonshire housing team in running for three awards
The housing development team at West Dunbartonshire Council have been nominated for three awards for the work they are doing in the area.
The team’s commitment to involving tenants and service users has been highlighted for the third year in a row at the TPAS (Scotland) National Good Practice Awards, which resulted in wins in 2016 and 2017.
Karen Rae, the council’s empty homes officer, has been shortlisted for the Howdens Scottish Empty Homes Champion of the Year Award.
And the Leaving Care Housing Protocol, the council’s innovative scheme to support care leavers into accommodation, has also been named as a nominee for the Margaret Blackwood Excellence in Housing Innovation Award at the CIH Scotland Excellence Awards.
Councillor Diane Docherty, convener of housing and communities, said: “We’ve always known our Housing team work hard to make improvements for our tenants and residents but it is wonderful that they are getting recognition from such a wide variety of different bodies praising their work.
“The work they do behind the scenes to ensure our tenants are happy and secure is second to none and I wish the team all the very best for the awards.”
Councillor Caroline McAllister, vice convener of housing and communities, added: “These nominations, coupled with the improvements we have seen in various areas of the service, shows how committed we are to our tenants.”
The CIH Scotland Excellence Awards takes place on November 2, TPAS awards on November 16 and the Empty Homes awards are on November 26.
