West Lothian volunteers welcomed by Bield
Bield’s Westport sheltered housing development in Linlithgow is looking for social activity assistants to help organise opportunities for social interaction within the development and the wider community.
Emma Sowerby, manager at Westport, said, “Social Activity Assistants and Lunch Club Assistants play a vital role in helping the tenants engage with one another and locals out with the development.
“Organising events from coffee mornings to bingo nights and social lunches, we like to involve the tenants at every stage with the emphasis on having fun.”
Volunteers are crucial in every Bield development, offering social support and companionship on a one-to-one basis for the tenants, for a few hours on a weekly basis.
With a new Brunch Club starting up to run in conjunction with the existing Lunch Club, Bield is looking to take on new lunch club assistants to help with set-up and cooking meals for tenants to enjoy. These vacancies are flexible between Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11am-1.30pm.
Social activity assistants work with tenants, staff and other volunteers to help organise activities and are asked to make a weekly commitment on Wednesday afternoons between 2-4pm.
Anyone interested in taking on one of these hugely rewarding projects please get in touch. From events planning to simply getting to know tenants and making new friends there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in West Lothian.
Enquiries are welcome from all people over the age of 16 but not all applications will be successful. Full training and support will be given as well as out-of-pocket expenses.
