West of Scotland Housing Association staff go further for charity
Generous staff at West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) gave it their all to raise £5,000 for Alzheimer Scotland and Strathcarron Hospice.
The two charities were the nominated corporate charities for 2017 and were presented with their cheques at a celebratory event with WSHA staff.
Since 2012, kind-hearted WSHA staff have raised around £25,000 to support good causes. Each year staff nominate charities close to their heart and throughout the year staff take part in a variety of fundraising activities including dress down days, charity auctions and raffles.
Lynne Donnelly, chief executive of WSHA, said: “We are delighted to have raised this fantastic amount for two very worthwhile causes. As always our kind-hearted staff have gone the extra mile to raise funds for these two charities that do such tremendous work to help improve people’s lives.”
Alison Baker, corporate fundraiser from Alzheimer Scotland, said: “It has been exciting to see everyone at West of Scotland Housing Association join us to help support the work of Alzheimer Scotland. With around 90,000 people living with dementia in Scotland and the number on the rise, it is our biggest health and social care challenge. We’re so grateful to the team for their hard work and enthusiasm and monies raised will go a long way to boost our local support, services and advice and will help us get closer to achieving our aim – making sure that nobody faces dementia alone.”
Claire Macdonald, business development fundraiser with Strathcarron Hospice, added: “Strathcarron Hospice would like to thank West of Scotland Housing Association for raising this fantastic amount. This will cover the cost of five days of care for one person in our in-patient unit and therefore will help to make a difference to local people living with a terminal illness.”
During 2018, WSHA has chosen Glasgow City Mission and Cancer Research UK as its corporate charities and fundraising is already underway.
