Westpoint Homes submits application for new Gorbals development
Westpoint Homes has submitted plans to Glasgow City Council to convert the B-listed former mill buildings in the Gorbals into 100 flats.
The proposal includes the conversion of premises in Old Rutherglen Road at Commercial Road, which includes the oldest surviving ironāframed mill in Glasgow.
Planning permission and listed building consent was granted in 2021 for the redevelopment of the site. This application seeks to make changes to the original application which Westpoint consider improves the overall development. CRGP, on behalf of Westpoint Homes, has re-designed the proposals to provide a deliverable residential development.
The plans also include the demolition of a modern but vacant health facility to make way for the development.
Westpoint launched a public consultation ahead of submitting a planning application and stated: “These proposals have been developed as a result of the need to arrive at a viable redevelopment scheme for the site that allows the project to progress.”
A live consultation will be held on February 2 between 3pm and 7pm.
