Wheatley Care customers receive £4000 in support thanks to contractors and suppliers
Customers of Wheatley Care have received extra support thanks to donations from kind-hearted contractors and suppliers.
Donations worth £4000 were organised by Wheatley Foundation, which is also part of Wheatley Group.
The money was used to buy supermarket vouchers for customers who are struggling financially. Wheatley Foundation also received food hampers, selection boxes and household items such as bedding, which were passed on to customers.
Donations were used to support around 400 people in Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Stirling, North and South Lanarkshire, and Dumfries and Galloway.
Sam, a customer from Wheatley Care’s Stirling Housing Support service, said: “When I moved here, I had to pay for my own electricity, and it’s been a struggle. Receiving this voucher helped as I got food with it, meaning I was able to put more money towards my electricity.”
Jamie, also a customer in Stirling, said: “I am in homeless accommodation and have recently started college. I was waiting for my money to get sorted out and had things to buy such as clothes, a bag and stationery. I used the voucher to get food, so I was able to buy the other things I needed.”
Wheatley Foundation received the donations from contractors including ALD Automotive, CF Services, Walker Love, Ecosse Signs, Capitol Building and Electrical Services, Shepherd and Wedderburn, Northgate, MAST Architects, Brodies and Vaillant.
Laura Pluck, director of communities at Wheatley Group, said: “We want to do everything we can to support our customers who are struggling.
“Thanks to the work of Wheatley Foundation and the companies we work with, we’ve been able to make a small but really important difference to the lives of the people we work for in our care services.
“We are incredibly grateful for these kind donations from our contractors and suppliers.”
