Wheatley charity football match raises over £5000 for Beatson
A charity football match, organised by staff from Wheatley Group, took place at Toryglen Regional Football Centre last month and raised £5374 for the Beatson Cancer Charity.
With many of the staff taking part having close friends and family who have experienced cancer, the Beatson Cancer Charity was the obvious choice.
Staff also organised a raffle, silent auction and activities such as guess how many sweets in a jar, to raise as much money as possible for the cause.
Wheatley’s environmental team leader, Elliott Gibb, who helped organise the fundraiser, said: “We are delighted to have raised this money for the Beatson Cancer Charity and we’d like to thank everyone who donated. We had a fantastic day at the match bringing everyone together, all whilst raising funds to support the amazing work the Beatson do.”
Corporate partnerships manager at Beason Cancer Charity, Joyce Ross, added: “We are so grateful to the staff from Wheatley Group for their incredible fundraising efforts.
“The football match for our charity was absolutely brilliant – it was lovely to see so many faces coming down to support the teams on the day while raising money for charity.
“The players were greatly supported by their families and friends on the day and there was such a community feel about the event.
“We’d like to thank everyone who was involved for helping to raise £5374. This wonderful total will go towards supporting so many patients and their families across the west of Scotland.”
