The achievements of Martin Armstrong, chief executive officer at Wheatley Group, were recognised at the Institute of Directors Scotland Director of the Year Awards at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow last week.

Mr Armstrong was one of 14 leaders who collected Director of the Year awards, celebrating the best in business across nine key director categories and five regional categories.

Commenting on the three Director of the Year Award winners, the judging panel, which was chaired by Raymond O’Hare, remarked: “Martin Armstrong’s long-term leadership of Wheatley has seen a radical transformation in the financial health of the company and the contribution it has made to Scotland.

“Simon Erlanger’s excellent use of community and people has built a sustainable company.

“Reaching more people is a huge objective for The Yard and Celine Sinclair is delivering this. Terrific performance across the board. She is a director who will go far and is an example to others.”

Meanwhile, IoD Scotland Director of the Year Awards were presented in a further six categories.

The winners of these Scottish categories will also progress to the prestigious UK Director of the Year Awards, which take place in London, in October:

The Awards highlight the diversity of the business landscape in Scotland, with categories for SMEs to large businesses; charities to the public sector. They honour those individuals whose creativity, leadership or innovative business practices have led to success for their organisation and the communities they serve.
