The event will take place between 4-7pm at the Lauderdale Hotel, 1 Edinburgh Road in Lauder.

Following the feedback from the first consultation event, this event will give the developer the opportunity to share details of its proposals for the development with members of the public and local key stakeholders.

The event also signals a further opportunity for the local community to share its views, and to give feedback as the detailed designs for the development which will be finalised over the coming months.

As part of the overall vision for this development, Whiteburn is preparing to deliver a range of new homes offering a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes for sale, as well as 25% affordable homes to rent. The final mix and scope of the development will be determined following the completion of the public consultation process.

Roger Bainbridge, director of design and delivery for Whiteburn Projects, added: “Our first consultation event in July was positive and well attended by the local community including representatives from the Community Council.

“It is our aspiration that Allanbank will provide a natural extension to the existing, vibrant community of Lauder, delivering a choice of new homes that will appeal to local people or those who want to enjoy the fantastic quality of life living in the Scottish Borders offers. In recognition of the importance that we place on community engagement, senior members of our Whiteburn team, along with three senior representatives from Scottish Borders Housing Association were on hand to answer questions.

“We received some helpful feedback from various members of the local community who took the time to share their views and suggestions.

“Our consultation material has also been available to view and comment via our website. We will collate all views and suggestions and use them to inform our design proposals as our plans for the development evolve.”

He added: “Our second public consultation event on Wednesday 10 August will allow us to update the local community and seek further feedback. Response from this second event, together with response from our Pre Application Enquiry to Scottish Borders Council will help inform our proposals for detailed planning submission in early autumn.

“As a member of the Considerate Constructor Scheme, we are fully committed to a programme of engagement with local communities and key stakeholders throughout the lifetime of our developments, and it is important to us that we begin this process as early as possible in the overall project to allow us to understand and consider the views from as many interested parties as we can. The first of our two planned community consultation events allow us to get that process underway.”
