Williamsburgh Housing Association hosts festive evening
Williamsburgh Housing Association teamed up with Renfrewshire Leisure, Rig Arts, Young Enterprise Scotland and SUGaR last month to hold a festive-themed evening at Mckerrell Street Play Park.
Over 80 community members attended and got to try out various festive fun activities. Activities included costume characters, park games, festive arts and crafts, free gifts and food, and a face-painter.
This is the third event in recent months where the partners have been consulting with the local community on their thoughts on what improvements they would like to see made in McKerrell Street Park, with plans already underway for an Easter-themed event.
Bryan Dando, community regeneration officer at Williamsburgh, said: “We’ve had three very popular and successful events in 2019 in McKerrell Street play park, and these have really highlighted that although the space is quite neglected and underused, it has real potential to be something more for the community.
“The space is in the geographical heart of the community, and these events have shown that the community will come together if the right opportunities present themselves.
“We are currently working with a number of partners including Community Members, Renfrewshire Leisure and Renfrewshire Council on revamping the park, so 2020 is looking very exciting”
