Work begins to deliver 40 new homes for social rent in Springburn
Construction work on a £5 million development of 40 new homes for social rent is underway in Springburn.
The two-bed apartments are being built by Glasgow-based AS Homes (Scotland) Ltd on behalf of Home Scotland, part of Home Group.
The development in Springburn Way features two four-storey blocks to reflect the scale of the neighbouring tenement properties. Timber frame construction will mean quicker build times and energy efficient homes. The homes should be ready for occupation by autumn 2019.
Paul Kelly, managing director of AS Homes (Scotland) Ltd, said: “This development will provide high-quality, modern and affordable rented accommodation for the Springburn area, on what was previously a gap site.”
Stuart Dixon, Home Scotland head of development and delivery, said: “We already have an excellent relationship with AS Homes so it’s good to be working with them again. We look forward to providing a further 40 affordable homes in this area of Glasgow. The flats will put this vacant land to good use, helping to enhance Springburn.”
