Work underway on new affordable homes in Crieff
Work is underway on a new housing development that will deliver more than 50 new affordable homes in Crieff.
Persimmon North Scotland’s Strathearn Meadow development on Broich Road will feature a total of 209 new homes, with 52 to be transferred to Kingdom Housing Association to provide families in need with a high-quality, energy-efficient new home.
Tom Barclay, chief executive of the Kingdom Group, and James MacKay, managing director at Persimmon North Scotland, visited the site to mark the start of work and discuss how the two organisations can continue working together to deliver more much-needed new homes.
In recent years, Persimmon North Scotland and Kingdom Housing Association have joined forces on a number of projects, delivering nearly 200 affordable homes across sites in Kirkcaldy, Markinch, Halbeath and Wormit.
The Strathearn Meadow development is the first time the organisations have teamed up on a project in Perth and Kinross and they are confident the new development will deliver the type of positive impact already seen on sites elsewhere.
James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Kingdom Housing Association once again to deliver more, much-needed affordable homes.
“We’ve already delivered nearly 200 affordable homes in partnership with Kingdom, which have made a real difference to local people, and I’m pleased we’re now bringing those benefits to Crieff as part of our Strathearn Meadow development.”
Tom Barclay, Kingdom Group chief executive, said: “We believe that high-quality affordable homes are the foundation of great lives and we are committed to working with valued partners such as Persimmon to provide homes where they are needed most.
“We have a long track record of working with Persimmon across Fife and I’m pleased that we’re now working on our first joint project with them in Crieff.”
Strathearn Meadow will also deliver funding for the local schools in Crieff, new play parks and areas of open public space, active travel routes and a new landscaped woodland path.
The project will directly support 80 new local construction jobs, with a further 88 estimated in services and the local supply chain.
