WWHC employees complete Great Scottish Run and raise over £1000
West Whitlawburn Housing Co-operative (WWHC) has congratulated its staff members Grant Clayton, Dave Kinloch and Joanna Pawlakowska who took part in The Great Scottish Run half marathon last month.
The team had been training hard to try and beat their target and time from last year. They were running for The Phil Welsh Welfare Fund which was set up in 2014 in honour of a founding member of WWHC and former chairperson Phil Welsh MBE who sadly passed away in 2013. The fund is to support those in financial difficulties when other sources have been exhausted.
The team completed the race, which took them from George Square through the city and finally ending the race in Glasgow Green, in just over 2 hours. With some final donations still coming in, the team have already managed to raise over £1,200.
Grant expressed his gratitude to all those who showed their support: “After months of training, we finally completed the Glasgow half marathon on Sunday 30th September 2018. The amount of money we have raised for the Phil Welsh Welfare Fund is absolutely fantastic and makes all aches and pains worth it for this great cause. Huge thank you to everyone for their sponsorship and support!”
This was the first year Joanna had taken part in the race and she said: “For me it was a pleasure to run with my two colleagues and I am so pleased that we raised that much money for the Phil Welsh Welfare Fund.”
