Office: Home-based (*Edinburgh Hub – once pandemic subsides)

Hours: 21 Hours per week (0.6 FTE)

Salary: £35,630 - £39,193 pro rata

Scotland’s Housing Network has been supporting the Scottish social housing sector for over 25 years. We are a membership organisation with an ethos firmly grounded in a member first approach. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but proactive team working across Scotland.

This is a unique post within SHN in that the rest of the organisation deals primarily with social housing – local authority or registered social landlord. This post deals exclusively with local authority private sector housing functions.

It is essential that you have demonstrable experience and knowledge of the Scottish local authority private sector housing services.

The principal role of this post is to organise and facilitate five knowledge and practice exchange forums for local authority officers twice a year for local authority officer who work in the following services.

    1. Private Sector Property Condition and the promotion of policies to improve this.

    2. Landlord Registration

    3. Houses in Multiple Occupation

    4. Disabled Adaptations and related Scheme of Assistance

    5. Local Authority Property Factoring

In addition, the post-holder represents the organisation on relevant national steering groups as appropriate (currently the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership and “Under One Roof”). Also, from time to time, the postholder may be asked to sit on ad hoc specialist groups set up by Scottish Government.

The post holder will be expected to have excellent organisational and administrative skills which will be utilised when carrying out event management administration, this includes pre- and post-event administration.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and self-motivated person. You will have good IT skills and an ability to work remotely and with minimal supervision. We also encourage innovative thinking.

You will be working directly with our membership so excellent communication skills are a must, as is a desire to listen to our members and constantly improve our services to meet their needs. You must be able to communicate well with people of all levels of seniority and occupations.

Working collaboratively as a wider SHN team is important to us too, therefore you will be committed to this collaborative approach and be willing to work as a team.

The successful applicant will be a key player in the SHN team and full support will be provided to deliver this demanding and high-profile role.
